RIP Steve Jobs had passed away.

He left his marks on our desks , ears and in our hands.

Yes you read it right....he was fighting against pancreatic cancer .

Since  steve jobs died peacefully last night, people all over the world have begun to share their thoughts and feelings in tribute to the Apple co-founder and technology icon. The man was unquestionably influential, and his impact can be felt by virtually anyone who uses consumer technology today.

Android Tablet for Just Rs.1500 in India

It has been almost 2 years when India’s HRD Minister who is also responsible for the “absurd IIT entrance issue” revealed that they would soon be launching the cheapest Tablet PC for Indian students at just Rs. 1,500 ($35). That “soon” is confirmed to be October 5^th.
Earlier Sakshat was supposed to be built by HCL but they couldn’t manage Tablet Parts at such a cheap price so Indian Govt. switched to some other manufacturer and this took them an extra 8-9 months to deliver what they had promised.


In a function, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said,
The computer will be launched next month. This is not just a dream, it is a reality.

The cheapest of Android Tablets available in market cost around Rs. 8,000 so if Indian Govt. is launching an Android Tab for just Rs. 1,500 it means that they would used a cheaper quality of hardware in manufacturing it. I am not really going to use it for daily purposes but I am truly excited to check it out. I want to just give it a test run and see what special it has in store for a techie.
I feel Sakshat is not a mainstream gadgets, it is developed for a purpose and that is what is most important characteristic about it. If it has a 256K RAM and can run Internet nicely, then it is much better than a Google Chromebook, that’s what I feel.
Sakshat, could prove to be a miracle for people, especially students living in areas where there is not much of a infrastructure that could accelerate “learning via technology” sort of environment.

      
I hope does good and I wish Kapil Sibal thinks very rigorously about removing flaws in current education system before introducing new things. By flaws, I mean real flaws, not what he did to engineering and medical entrance exams.

The Government intends to have a common examination for under-graduate programmes across the country from 2013 and prepare a common merit list as part of efforts to improve quality of education, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said.

He also told the Lok Sabha on Friday that the government would crack down on fake universities, the practice of taking capitation fee, misleading advertisements and other malpractices regarding which a bill is being brought.

RANKING OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES

An extensive, high-quality network of universities is an essential building block for any country that aspires to be an economic power- house. For India, which fashions itself as a knowledge economy, such a network is even more critical. On evidence, the country is still short of a world-class universities system. One way to improve is to compete.

The India Today-Nielsen ranking of India's top universities, now in its second edition, is an attempt to assess the relative standards of post-graduate educational institutions.

As in all such rankings, there is an element of subjectivity involved, which will leave some happier than others. The top five universities from 2010 continue to be the top five in 2011, with one change: Delhi University, number 3 last year, moves into the top slot, exchanging ranks with Banaras Hindu University. Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Calcutta and University of Madras remain number 2, 4 and 5 respectively.

10 tips to neutralise your accent | improve the way you speak English

Many deserving candidates lose out on job opportunities because of their vernacular accent. 

Can I 'neutralise' my accent?
Yes, you can. All you need to do is train yourself to speak English as comfortably and perfectly as you speak your mother tongue. 

How do you train yourself? By inculcating certain practices in your daily lifestyle. These will get you closer to sounding like a native English speaker and equip you with a global accent and you will speak not American or British English, but correct English.This is the first step to learn any other accent, be it American or British or Australian.

i. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them.
When you are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they are saying, while imitating the intonation and rhythm of their speech.



ii. Until you learn the correct intonation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down.
If you speak too quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard time understanding you. 
Don't worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it is more important that everything you say be understood.

iii. Listen to the 'music' of English.
  Do not use the 'music' of your native language when you speak English. Each language has its own way of 'singing'.  


iv. Use the dictionary.
Try and familiarise yourself with the phonetic symbols of your dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say.

WTC Memorial opens at Ground Zero

In the days after the 9/11 attacks, all of New York seemed to become a shrine to the dead. People left heaps of flowers in front of fire stations. They lit candles. They hung photographs of the missing.


  
Now, at last, there is a permanent memorial to the victims., New York City has unveiled the memorial site to the public at Ground Zero. The memorial consists of two fountain pools surrounded by a bronze band. The bronze is engraved with the names of the 3,000 victims from the attacks at the Twin Towers, Pentagon, and Pennsylvania site.

In addition to the memorial, a museum opening in September of next year will display historical and memorial exhibits surrounding 9/11. One portion of the museum's plans includes a chamber that houses a wall from one of the Twin Towers that survived the attacks.

The tree-covered memorial plaza at Ground Zero opened to the families of the victims for the first time Sunday, on the 10th anniversary of the attacks.


In the exact footprints of the two towers was a stately memorial: two great, weeping waterfalls, surrounded by bronze parapets etched with names of all 9/11 victims
