Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology announces admissions for Ph.D programs

Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology is a fully residential Institute located in Sector-3 at Dwarka , New
Delhi. It was established in 1983 by Delhi administration with the approval of the Govt. of India to meet the growing
demand of manpower in high-tech areas of Engineering & Technology. The institute became autonomous in 1987.
With in a span of 28 years since its inception, NSIT has carved a name for itself and it is now an
established institute with well equipped modern Laboratories, well laid down `Profile of Growth` and a strong
commitment for achieving excellence in technical education and research, with the ultimate goal of achieving
University status in near future.

Ph.D Programmes (Full- Time)

Applications are invited for Teaching- cum-Research-fellowship in the following Divisions:-
(i) Division of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): Bipolar and CMOS
analog circuit design, Analog VLSI circuits/Analog Signal Processing, DSP; Digital Communication;
Optical networks, Optical communication, Wireless and Mobile Communication.
(ii) Division of Computer Engineering & Information Technology (COE & IT) :
Reconfigurable Computing and FPGA, Software Engineering, Information System, Real Time Systems,
Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Image Processing, Computer Networking, Mobile computing,
Hardware Software Co-design, Sensor Networks, Video modeling & processing, Video Broadcasting,

(iii) Division of Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE): Industrial Electronics and
industrial drives, Instrumentation including Biomedical and intelligent instrumentation, Process Control
and Mechatronics, Networking and Distributed Computer Control System. Intelligent Control, optimal
control, Fractional order Controllers, Bioinformatics, Game theory, Reinforcement learning and its
Applications In Robotics.
(iv) Division of Manufacturing Processes and Automation Engineering (MPAE):
Manufacturing Processes, Manufacturing Automation, Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing,
Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Electrochemical & Electrodischarge Machining, Unconventional
Machining Process, Robitics and Multicriteria decision methods using AI, Hybrid machining Technology.
(V) School of Applied Sciences (SAS): Mathematics : Approximation Theory, Fluid dynamics,
Biomechanics, Linear and Nonlinear waves, Cosmology, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Complex
analysis, Partial Differential Equations, General Relativity, Gas Dynamics. Chemistry : Inorganic
Chemistry, organic Chemistry, Physical Chem. Physics: Material Science, Elastic Dielectrics,
Nanometric Dielectrics, Electro-mechanical transducers/sensors/Electrical Characterization of MCT
Heterostructures. Solar Energy (Heat Transfer) & Energy Engineering, Solar Energy Materials, Solar
Cell, Nano Solar Energy materials, mathematical Modelling and Simulation, Green building and solar
Passive Technology.

(vi) Bio-Technology: Bio-Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology,
Pharmacy and Biophysics, Computational Biology & Bioinformatics.
(Vii) Humanities: Scoiology of Science and Tech., Sociology of Education and Professions and
Globalization, English Language teaching, Acquisition and development Sociolinguistics.

Eligibility Conditions

Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline (For ECE, COE, ICE, MPAE, IT)
Securing 70% or more marks in aggregate and Masters Degree in Science or Equivalent in relevant area (as
detailed at point No. V & Vi above) of Applied Sciences & Bio-Technology (in accordance with Ordinance VI-B,
University of Delhi) securing 70% or more marks in aggregate.
Candidates having only M.Sc. degree (without M.Tech. or M. Phil degree) will be required to complete
course work as detailed in ordinance VI B of University of Delhi. However, if the candidate has qualified any of
the national level fellowship exams for example, CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DBT/DST, Inspire fellowship or GATE
examination after Master’s degree he/she will not have to undergo any course work.
The candidates possessing Master degree with 60% or more marks who are eligible for Ph.D. degree as
per ordinance VI B of University of Delhi may also apply for admission for Ph.D. degree but they will be admitted
without scholarship and they will be required to comply with the other formalities of ordinance VI B displayed on
Institute website and will be selected through a written test followed by Powerpoint Presentation and Interview.
A written test will be organized on department level which will have multiple choice questions. The
selection of the candidate shall be made by the selection committee of the respective department on the basis
of the performance of the candidate in written test, power point presentation and Interview (the weight age will
be in the ratio of 20 : 30 : 50). Interviews will be held in Oct./Nov. 2011.
Candidates selected for admission to the Ph.D. Programme will have to subsequently apply to the
University of Delhi for Ph.D registration as per University Rules.
Candidate appearing in the qualifying exams must ensure that their final results (with requisite marks) are
declared before the date of Interview (probably in Oct./Nov. 2011) otherwise they will not be allowed to appear
before the selection board.
Selected candidates shall be required to deposit institute fee and other charges immediately at the time
of registration for which he/she will be intimated before the date of registration well-before-the time. The amount
payable by him/her will be in DD/cash as per rule. Limited hostel accommodation is available which will be
provided to students subject to availability.
No TA/DA will be admissible to the applicants called for written Test/Interview.

Financial Assistantship to Ph.D Scholars

The institute aims at identifying suitable candidates having keen interest in teaching and research who
would like to take up a career in Academics. In line with this objective, therefore, a scheme “Teaching-cum-
Research-fellowship” has been introduced. Exceptionally brilliant candidates having keen interests in an
academic career, shall be considered for this fellowship.
The Institute currently offers a Teaching-Cum-Research Fellowship of Rs. 15000/- pm (which
is likely to be revised @ Rs. 25,000/- p.m.). Successful candidates, on completion of Ph.D. under the
scheme, stand good chance of being considered for absorption as faculty in this institute through proper
Selection Committee.
A scheme also exists for the award of Research Assistantship for providing financial assistance to the
students. In terms of this scheme, the student who is not found suitable for TRF but found suitable for research
can be considered to Ph.D. Degree programme as research fellow with stipend/fellowship as per rule.
